Michelle is passionate about empowering women and about using the capital markets as a force for positive social and environmental impact. In 2018, she consulted for a renewable energy platform, a social justice organization, and spent a month in Siem Reap, Cambodia, consulting for Samatoa Lotus Textiles, a social enterprise which empowers local women as they produce sustainably made textiles. In her free time, Michelle loves hiking, cooking, and reading. She resides in San Francisco with her husband and daughter.
The following poem hangs in several of Michelle’s family members’ homes and reminds her of what is most important in life:
“What is Success?
To laugh often and much;
To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children;
To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends;
To appreciate beauty;
To find the best in others;
To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition;
To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived;
This is to have succeeded.”
– Ralph Waldo Emerson
