A Conversation About Money Taboos
Many of this week’s actions surface something deeper than dollars and decisions. They bring up the emotions we’ve been taught to keep quiet about: fear, shame, guilt, pride, and the subtle belief that we’re “not supposed” to talk about money at all.
For this live gathering, we’ll come together for a Money Taboo Therapy Session — an intimate, facilitated conversation designed to feel more like a circle than a webinar. There will be no slides, no jargon, and no pressure to perform. Instead, we’ll explore where our money taboos come from, how silence shapes our financial lives, and what begins to shift when we finally name what’s been hidden.
This session is not about fixing or solving. It’s about hearing your own experience reflected in others, recognizing shared patterns, and discovering that many of the stories we carry are far more collective than personal.
The intention is to support exactly what you’re practicing this week: telling the truth, speaking it out loud, and loosening the grip of shame by realizing you’re not alone. When money moves from secrecy to conversation, possibility opens.
These events are part of OurSheconomy, a campaign led by Invest for Better exploring what happens when women fully step into their financial power. Over the next few months, we’ll host a series of conversations, experiences, and gatherings designed to help women better understand their money, their influence, and the role capital plays in shaping the world around us.
These events are free and open to our community, and we’d love to have you join us.
