This panel session will explore the opportunity for women to magnify their impact on the social and environmental issues they care about through deploying the tools of philanthropy and investing. In a conversation moderated by Maggi Alexander, TPI Senior Partner and Director of TPI’s Center for Global Philanthropy, panelists will share their journeys to understand and utilize philanthropy and impact investing, including how they seek to integrate both for catalytic change in thematic areas such as gender equity, racial equity, and environmental sustainability. Attendees will learn about the range of financial tools available to achieve their social and environmental goals and resources to help them learn more.
The world faces grave problems on local and global levels, and it has become critical to deploy all of our financial resources to address them. The opportunities to use the capital markets to scale and sustain high-impact solutions have grown exponentially in recent years. WPI research has shown that women are more likely to be interested in impact investing than men. Yet, a whole body of research also shows that women are less likely to see themselves as “investors” and often lack the confidence and knowledge to use financial tools for social change. This session will help those women who are hungry to take the next step.
