Our money can
change the world.

We’re leading a movement toward a better financial system that works for us and our values.

Invest for Better is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that gives women the confidence, skills, and encouragement they need to take control of their assets and use them to influence things they care about.

Invest for Better (IFB) members are emboldened to take action with their money because they participate in facilitated learning circles, are part of a trusted investing community, and learn a practical values-aligned investing curriculum that fosters confidence and growth.

The IFB community is driving a movement that brings women together as a powerful collective force. Together, we are finding joy and getting great returns while investing in a world that prioritizes sustainability and social justice.

We invite you to step into your financial power by becoming a member of IFB or by partnering with us.

Programs & Services

  • Invest for Better Circles– Women join together in Circles with 8-20 members over a period of 3-6 months to explore investing, share insights, and build a trusted community that continues to learn together.

  • Leadership development - IFB trains volunteer Circle Leaders to facilitate the Circle experience, which transforms women’s relationships with money, values, and power dynamics. Leaders learn facilitation and community-building skills that they can transfer into their everyday lives.

  • Trusted community – Investing is a life-long journey. Having a trusted community of women available as teachers, thought partners, and sounding boards is a game-changer.

  • Movement-building - IFB works with many experts, organizations, and advocates to co-create programs, tools, curricula, and initiatives. As a non-profit organization, we are committed to building on the best of us to amplify women’s voices on the investing ecosystem.

Our History

Invest For Better was incubated by Ellen Remmer as a project at The Philanthropic Initiative in 2019 with the launch of several in-person Invest for Better Circles. When the Covid-19 pandemic hit, the model moved to a virtual format and the creation of several cohorts of 10-20 Circles running concurrently. Recognizing that demand for the Circle experience was significant, Ellen joined forces with Janine Firpo to transition Invest for Better into independent 501©3. On September 15, 2021, they launched their newly formed organization and announced the creation of an annual Invest for Better Day.

With the help of Education Advisor, Jill Bamburg, they revamped the curriculum to align with Janine’s best-selling book, Activate Your Money, Invest to Grow Your Wealth and Build a Better World. Over time, IFB expanded its program offerings significantly, devised a Circle leadership training approach, created a membership program, established a Steering Committee, and recruited a leading group of Pathfinders – the knowledge-holders, role models, field builders, and visionaries who serve as important resources and guides to IFB members.

Today Invest for Better is the collaborative effort of a small staff and its pro-bono Co-Founders, incredible volunteer Circle Leaders, and an awesome cadre of advisors, supporters, content partners, and Pathfinders.

IFB’s history is also rooted in the personal financial journeys of its co-founders. Both Ellen and Janine experienced challenges in transforming their own investment portfolios to align with their values and wanted to make the process easier and more joyful for others. They also share the belief that the collective action of women’s investing can change the world.

Our Impact & Accomplishments

  • Since inception, Invest for Better has engaged a diverse group of over 2000 women in over 200 Invest for Better Circles and deep dive courses and reached thousands more through public speaking events, podcasts, trainings, and other media.

  • We have trained over 250 phenomenal women to serve as Invest for Better Circle Leaders, equipping them with easy-to-implement curricula and leadership skills.

  • Most important, women are taking action. Over 90% of members have taken concrete steps in the course of their Circle experience, and over 50% have moved money into investments within the first 6 months.

  • And 93% of surveyed Circle Members were somewhat or very likely to recommend involvement in a Circle to others.

  • This has been made possible only through the collective power of all the volunteers and partnerships we have made, including our Pathfinders, Content Partners, Circle Leaders and Donors.
